As the UK sadly looks to face a period of sustained youth unemployment, Positive Smiles welcomes the Government’s new Kickstart scheme. The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion government fund to create high-quality, 6-month work placements for young people. These placements will provide the individual with the opportunity to develop skills and gain the experience needed to find long-term work. This scheme is aimed at 16-24 year olds who are claiming Universal Credit and who are at risk of long-term unemployment. As employers, we are excited to support Young People begin their journey of long term employment! In addition to a job, the Kickstart Scheme will offer:

• Wraparound employability and sector specific skills & training
• Further volunteering and continued work opportunities
• Mentoring and employability skills and support for progression
• A shared sense of social purpose built through a national community of participants
